An emergency medical services system design using mathematical modeling and simulation-based optimization approaches

The healthcare system is no stranger to resource challenges in the face of unlimited demand fulfill objectives satisfying patients, maintaining service quality, and maximizing profit. Healthcare decision-makers are responsible for devising effective methods allocating scarce resources fairly a way that maximizes benefits at societal level. An emergency medical services (EMS) plays crucial role stabilizing transporting seriously injured patients hospitals within systems. Several criteria affect EMS function, such as call rate, traffic condition, setup, operating costs. Therefore, optimal design systems, including determining location bases ambulances, helps improve performance. This paper takes advantage mathematical modeling simulation-based optimization approaches identify best centers assign ambulances selected maximize survival rate minimize total cost system.
